Sunday, July 16th, 2017 Redeeming Eve

Genesis 3:22-24

Our reading ends with God expelling humans from the perfect garden, forcing our subsistence as we toil for our food and livelihood. In many ways, this is the beginning of the story of our redemption — it is our prodigal moment, the beginning of our loop back to God. We walk into our dominion — the earth — and we proceed to make a hot mess of things, putting our hierarchies in place, creating our own caste systems in our minds, categorizing each other as different or the same, good or bad, better or worse than.

And through the curse of Eve — through painful childbirth and no human male’s contribution — comes God’s ultimate redemptive move.

What does God want to redeem through you today? How can you be an instrument of God’s redemption in the world?
