Friday, July 28th - Sister, Enough

We come back to Leah today, who in Genesis 30:9-13 has finally called herself happy in God’s abundant blessings. She has gone from naming her sons “I am hated” to “I have prevailed”, and finally, “Happy am I!”

And yet, the pressures of culture proved unsatisfied, for her son Reuben, presumably out of concern that she was no longer bearing children, brought her mandrakes, a fertility booster.

Do you ever find satisfaction — peace, even — only to find it stolen by loves ones who remind you that you’re not enough? How would you like to respond to those pressures?
