Saturday, August 12 - Life Abundant
Read John 21:9-14
Jesus came to serve, not to be served, and here we see him serving the disciples breakfast. It is a beautiful act of nurturing, and indeed, very often a woman's role to prepare a meal. But Jesus doesn't seem to care about hierarchies -- at least not man made ones. And if he does, they're all flipped around.
As usual, Jesus has an invitation for us -- Come and have breakfast. He broke bread for them, and fish, and they ate together. The text is again frustratingly short and lacking in detail, but the important point is this:
And then God told us to go, do the same.
Are you ignoring an invitation from Jesus? If so, what is it he is inviting you into?
